Create new pressure tap for boost controller

As others have found, using a the comrpessor housing hose barb with an external boost controller will cause full throttle boost (and torque) to fall off with higher RPM's. The reasons for that are well understood. But in lower gears at full throttle the boost gets up then drops. I have been suspcious that the pressure tap on the compressor housing has some characteristics which are causing this. A pressure tap at the manifold is ideal, but the pressure will overshoot.
So I cut hole in my intercoolers cross return section, (on the top of the old style intercoolers), and bonded on a rubber block with a brass hose barb in it. The rubber will be happy with the rapid heat and expansion rates of the aluminum it is bonded to. It's relatively large size will develop a bond strength that will easily resist the blow off forces developed by the hole it covers. The top of the block is bonded to a layer of stainless steel, which is there to prevent ballooning, which would develop quite different forces on the rubber to aluminum bond.
The rubber to aluminum bond is silcone glue. It will take the temperature extremes. No, hot melt glue is not a good idea!
So this AM I drove very easy as the glue would still not be fully cured. With the change of location, the boost controller was not developing much boost anyways, needing adjustment. I will next get the pressure up and see if it is a decent solution. Hope so, the free dyno day is tomorrow.
