Brad hosted a free dyno day at KC racing for his Saab performance enthusiasts. What a wonderful thing to do.

I have never been near a dyno before, so it was very intersting.

It was an inertial type dyno. A Dynojet system. Each participant was given two runs with charts and print outs.

It was 88F for my run, a bit warm.

There were all kinds of seriously modified classic Saabs. It is interesting how much room there is around the engines compared to the packed NG900 compartments. Sorry, I am not familiar with the classic Saabs.

I revised my boost controller configuration Thursday night, so things are in a state of flux. My boost on the dyno runs quickly settled to 14 PSI, but was down to 11 or 12 at the read line in 4th gear. So there is still some need to keep working on a viable manual boost control config for the stock ECU.

The runs were great. Peak torque was 222 and wheel HP suffered with the boost droop at 193.6 (corrected to standard conditions). There is some adrenaline involved, perhaps the noise in a close shop. Many of the C900's sounded very sweet and eager.

The speed at the red line was 125 mph. So while the boost did droop more than I would like, it is not like I drive that way very often (never).

The dyno runs penalize the turbos, because the cooling fan that they use is not worth a damm at making an intercooler work. Especially for a C900, but some of the C900's had Brad's cooling fan setup installed. So in the real world, at speeds over 100 mph, the intercooler on the NG900's would be getting some serious cooling that cannot be duplicated on a dyno.

Many of the C900's also had water spray installed by Brad, and one also had water spray in the IC and a cooling fan.

So I am very happy with the way my 95SET is running, and I know where I need to focus my efforts. But even with the high HP boost dropp with my current (experimental?) configuration, my boost and torque in the rpm's of my driving style is very adequate.

My stats were better than some modified C900's that did not have water injection. Those systems tended to bounce around on APC induced boost fluxuations.

There were lots of interesting guys to talk to, and of course we did not have any trouble finding things to talk about.

Brad has a water injection system on a bread board, and tapped it into a C900 for an A vs B run.

Great day Brad... thanks!

Thanks to MC Racing as well!
