There is no worry about timing on a Saab since it's all handled by the Trionic (or in this case Motronic) ECU. I swear you could put the distributor in turned 180 degrees and it would compensate (but don't quote me on that). There is no way to set the timing on a "modern Saab" as with most cars these days.
Just the same, it's easy to make a mark with a pen from the distributor to the engine face. That way you're sure to line it up correctly and it will go right back in the same slot. The distributor shaft is keyed so you'll find that it really only goes back in the exact same position it came out of...
In brief... Don't sweat this job! It's EASY and well within the means of anyone who can loosen one bolt, slide the distributor out, replace the o-ring, slide it back in, and tighten the bolt. Done.
Oh, one more thing... They "upgraded" the o-ring from the earlier NG900 models to a new improved version that doesn't leak (as much). The o-ring is now completely round and slightly thinner, where as the old one was wider. The part # is 91 76 470
