'95 900 S Convert w/ Noisy engine Posted by Ryan [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Greetings everyone.
Couple of questions--
My Saab '95 is particularly noisy at idle or low speeds. It has 75K... I have a 65K major tuneup done. After reading a parts post by Conn-Tech Automotive, I am led to believe that this is the balance chain (belt) because it sounds like a squeely pulley. Conn-Tech sells "Balance Chain Removal Kits" to alleviate what they called a bad design. Part is cheap at $25 but it is labor intensive. Requires taking the entire belt off, basically major engine work. I'm not skilled enough to do myself.
1) Have any of you guys had similar noise problems? 2) Is it worth having fixed....will it lead to further problems? 3) Or should I leave it? The cost could be $550 now, but maybe worse later.
4) Lastly, what other potential problems or quirks should I be aware of in the years to come? New convertible top engines, etc. (Just purchased and I baby her as much as possible).
I would greatly appreciate your feedback to my questions.
Thanks,
Ryan
