I had a Sebring convertible – I bought it used with 15K on the engine. I didn't know it at the time, but it had been in a serious accident although the title was clean.
It was still under warranty when I brought it in for a minor fit&finish problem, and that's when the dealership pointed out the car had been wrecked.
The telltail sign was the convertible top. It was beginning to droop out the sides by the back windows, like the material was pulling out from the inside of the roof. The dealership took a close look at the roof and noted some of the ribs were broke and said the only way to do that kind of damage was to roll the car. Broken ribs aren't always easy to see unless you're looking for them.
I got my money back for the car and broke even on the deal at the end. I was lucky.
Incidently, convertible tops do need to replaced every few years depending on the exposure to weather. I was told my Sebring top would need to be replaced about every 3 to 5 years. So keep that convertible in the garage when not in use.
One last note: my favorite colors for the Saab convertible are lite blue body with navy top and dark blue leather seats.
Good luck with your purchase.
David
