Well, I went to a shop with a Hunter Diagnostic Machine today, and they found that one of my rims was out of round. Here is a copy of the email I just sent to sportscarservice.com, where I bought the rims from:

Hi,

I recently bought a set of the 5 spoke 16" rims from you. When I had my new tires mounted on the rims, from the start there was a vibration problem. I had my tire shop rebalance the tires, and while this helped a bit, it still did not cure the shaking at highway speeds.

Today I went to a shop with a Hunter Road Force diagnostic machine to attempt to find out what exactly is causing the problem. They found that one of the rims was out of round at an unacceptable value (they called it a value of 24, while the other rims were 9, 10, 12 respectively). They tried to balance the one bad rim as best they could.

I am going to pick up the rims/tires tomorrow (Wednesday) and put them back on my car. I will test drive it and see if the ride is ok. If it isn't, then I need to work out something with you to get a replacement. I have put less than 100 miles on the rims since I bought them.

I will email you again tomorrow with the results of my test drive.

Regards,

Brian McCandless

Am I forgetting to tell them anything? Should I expect them to pay for shipping of the bad rim back to their shop, how about the 65 bucks i spent to have the shop use the Hunter machine on my rims?

Anyone here have to return something to scs.com before? What was it like?

Thanks,

Brian
