Well, I need to exchange one of my rims that I bought from SCS because it was determined to be bent (by a shop with a hunter machine). I just wanted to post a copy of the email that I sent them to get feedback from you all and advice:
Hi,
I emailed a few days ago about the possibility of needing to exchange one of the 4 16 inch 5 spoke rims that I bought from you because of the possibility that it was bent.
I went to a tire shop with a Hunter Road Force diagnostic machine and had them check my rims for me. One of them is slightly bent (measured at 22 lbs of force as opposed to the other 3 rims which were 9, 10, and 14 lbs. respectively). It is possible to see where the rim is out of round if you look closely.
This is a problem that I had since my original install of the rims, I had to take off the rims and put my old ones back on because of the bad shaking. I'm telling you this to assure you that this is not damage that I caused, the car shook from the moment I first drove it out of the tire shop that installed the new rims (they are take off rims, so they had some miles on them before I got them).
I am going to need to exchange the one bad rim with you for a "new" rim. I would prefer to have a new rim shipped to me, and then I will return the bad rim, that way I do not have to remove all of the rims from the car again. I would be willing to pay for a new rim if I was assured that I would get a refund when i shipped the bad rim back to you.
I would ask that you consider paying for shipping of the rims, as this was a defect that existed at the time of the sale. I also had to pay a shop 75 dollars to do the hunter "road force" diagnosis on the rims, I would really appreciate being reimbursed for that as well. I have a reciept for the work done. (I originally paid one shop 65 bucks to mount and balance the tires, then the 75 for another shop to diagnose the shaking with the Hunter machine.)
Please advise me what my next step should be, I need to get this taken care of before I move to North Carolina in a week and a half.
Thank You,
Brian McCandless
