The a/c on my 95 900SE is not working. I took it to the local repair guy who filled it up with freon and a dye that he said would pinpoint the leak. After about a week the a/c stopped working again. I took it back to him and he said that he could not find a leak and filled it with freon again. At that time the weather had started to turn cold ,so i didnt use the a/c again till the next summer. when i turned on the a/c it worked properly for about a week and once again it stopped working.

My wife then dropped it off at the Saab dealer and told him the a/c wasnt working. He refilled it with freon and dye and told her to come back so they can see where the leak was. A week later after the a/c shut down again she took it back. the Dealer called and said that the leak was in the evaporator that was located inside the dash and that it would be $1,300 parts and labor. When i asked him if he saw the dye on the evaporator he said that he used a "sniffer" to find the leak. My question is that if the leak is coming from the under the dash could it be from anything other than the evaporator or is the dealer just guessing and covering himself with the highest cost option?

I also started hearing a hissing sound coming from under the dash wenever the a/c is on. when i have it on economy mode the hissing goes away. (this may have nothing to do with it and only be coincidental)
