My '97 9000 was experiencing the same problem shortly after I bought it in February '01. Turns out the water was leaking in through the drivers door seal... the dealer realigned it and it has remained fine even through all the rain we've had in the last few weeks (I'm in the Northeast too - Boston area) The other car in our household is a 1998 Volvo S70, which let in water like the Titanic the first rainy day we had it. The problem with that one was somebody at the factory had cut the lower windshield seal with a knife (!) the mechanic who repaired it at the dealer is a friend of mine, and he is convinced that that is the only way it could have happened. I guess Sven or Bjorn was feeling a bit 'Postal'...
