As some of you already know, when my direct ignition {DI} cassette failed a few weeks ago, I had the 95SET towed 40 miles to George's Imports. When I picked it up, I did a cursory inspection and refitted the tow hook cover. I looked at the Abbott subframe brace bar and it was bent. Tow truck bashed it up till it touched the oil sump.

The tow operator came to my house to see what happened and helped me remove the brace bar. I took the brace bar to Brad and asked if he would have a go with it on his hydraulic press. Brad machined aluminum blocks with radii of the brace bar and straighened it out. With care and a good eye, you can do some pretty neat work on a press.

The steering was heavy and I suspected that the brace bar bent the subframe in as it was bent. That would create added toe in. With the Abbott rescue kit, there is not much rubber left to absorb toe in forces, so this is more critical than with stock.

I had the alignement done, and the brace refitted. The steering now feels quite good. 1 mm total toe. You need a lower spec tow-in with the Abbott mods.

The total cost was $75 and I am thrilled and the tow operator and the tow driver are very happy, as the driver has to pay for dammage to customer property and they were worried that there would be $ubstantial dammage.
