The turbo is pretty reliable, but as always, make sure it's seen regular maint. and oil changes. The oil changes are critical on a turbo.
Other than that, watch the little stuff, these cars will nickle and dime you to death. More like dime and quarter! Check the headlight wipers for smooth, two-swipe operation (motors are a couple hundred each), verify heated seat operation (tough in the summer, I know, but ~$200 each at dealer), verify radio antenna up & down, clear readout on the SID; cold, quiet a/c; verify both power seats work properly and memory on drivers' works. Pre-98 cars had a troublesome clutch cable, some '94's and 95's had problems with leaky input shaft seals on the transmission. Hesitation on accel or hard cranking? Could be the Direct Ignition cassette, $350. Uneven idle? Idle air control valve, $350. Make sure you get it with two keyless entry remotes.
Other then that, just do the normal car checks. You get a lot of car for the money with a turbo Saab, but they are expensive to care and feed and reliability is something of hit or miss. This board will be a bit help to you.
