You can read the codes your self, but you have to jumper connectors at the diagnostic port at the top of the driver's footwell. Then not all codes are documented or displayed on a blinking light on the dash.
Ignition off
put a wire in pin 6
don't let the other end touch any other conductor
and turn on the igntion, but don't start the engine
touch the other end of the wire to a ground point for a couple of seconds and release
the check engine light (cel) will flash
the flashes will come in groups of two, count the flashes, there may be more than one code, the sequence will repeat until you turn off the ignition or start the engine
11 secondary air injection relay
12 no fault
21 air mass flow sensor
41 coolant temp sensor
51 throttle position sensor
61 lamda sensor (aka O2 sensor)
71 long adaption time
73 short adaption time
81 evaporative loss system purge valve
91 ECU RAM fault
92 ECU ROM fault
Not much here! Note that there are not any codes listed for crankshaft or camshaft sensors.
Did you check the coil and its connectors? Cables clean?
