The engine/radiator cooling fan on the NG900 is a two speed electric fan. The fan will turn on to low under two conditions.
1)The engine temp reaches some factory set temp, turning on cooling fan.
OR
2)The A/C compressor is running, the cooling fan will run whenever the A/C compressor is actually in use.
