No need to flush. but there are two methods. Flush with a crank of new fresh cheap oil, or add a quart or whatever is recommended of the solvent types. The solvent hss the potential to free up junk and rings, so that this will not get freed up and circulated by the synthetic. Mobil 1 is a much better product than syntec as well.
Trany? I would not add engine oil as it has detergents which will free up wear partical deposits which you don't want in circulation. There seems to be a consensous to use Redline or Saab's synthetic gear oil. Getting the plugs out can be difficult. Don't round out the heax plugs with the incorrect keys. One has little clearance an misalignment could also cause damage. The dealer has a special tool, others have cut keys to shorter lengths. Perhaps is is a torx head, look carefully.
