Hello,
I am not sure about adding the bracket but I was able to take the tonneau motor assembly out and replace it without too much difficulty. Just take your time and you will be ok.
The motor assembly is in the trunk, passenger side. You will need to remove the right side trim panel (large) and the cover that runs across the trunk opening under the tonneau cover. Loosen the allen inserts on the axel/u-joint, remove the cable c-clips, disconnect the electrics and unbolt the assembly from the bracket. At this point you can wiggle the assembly out of the u-joint and remove it. Oh yes, mark the axel position on the u-joint to make sure you can re-assemble in the same location.
I don't have experience with the reinforcement bracket but it should be fairly logical. I think if you have everything marked and reassemble in the same location that you won't have to re-program the top sequence. If you have any doubt about doing this, have a dealer or tech help you--it may be worth it.
