To drain the radiator, remove the lower hose. It is much easier to get to, the coolant doesn't spill all over the spoiler, and you don't run the risk of FUBARing the drain plug and needing a new radiator.
Also, getting to and removing the thermostat is kind of fun. It takes more time to remove all the stuff to GET to the t'stat, than it does to replace the t'stat. I suggest replacing the t'stat with every coolant change. They don't cost anything, at least for a Saab, and it is nice to have heat in the winter and run the A?C in the summer without worrying about overheating.
Now for the brake fluid, follow the Haynes manual it works pretty well. My suggestion is to get ATE Super Blue fluid. It is blue in color and makes it really easy to tell when all of the old fluid is flushed out. On my BMW, it is best to turn the ignition to ON. This runs the ABS pump and helps get the fluid out of thae part of the system. I only leave it on for the first wheel, then the ABS system is clean. I don't know if this would help with a Saab, but it won't hurt anything either. BTW, pressure bleeders are nice. If you have a helper too, it can be done in 10 minutes.
