Tire Size? Front and Rear

I bought my 96 900 SE a year ago and the tires are due for a change. The current tires are 205/50/16 in front and 205/55/16 in back (same brand and model though). Is there any benifit to this setup; handeling, weight distribution? It is a very small difference but makes it harder to find four maching tire models. I'm thinking about going to all 50's. Just looking for some input.
