The route you take depends on your budget.

You will find 3 DIY's for the input.

Some install their own Saab Sports SS exhaust. It will cost you 300 to 400 depending on DIY or dealer.

More boost is a $35 or $550 - $800 options. The expensive ECU mods will provide the most power, but the easy to install and reverse MBC is a very impressive improvement itself.

Suspension mods are expensive. Spring, shock and labor to install will cost well over $1000. The other suspention mods, over 800 for the VRK plus $300 to install and $135 for the rear roll bar, DIY... You get the picture.

The steering is particularilly rubbery from 1995&1/2 onwards. The VRK has four componets which help.

Also do some reading on the 9-3 and performance BB's. The performance BB also has classic (C900) stuff that is confusing for the new readers.

Pay close attention to advise on spark plugs and keeping injectors clean.

I suggest the $35 MBC and the DIYs and exhaust. Later if you want the ECU mods, the MBC can be considered a cheap stepping stone.

With higher boost, note discussions on bypass valve upgrades. The stock valve often starts to make silly tooting noises and piston type bypass valves will be too proof. :)

So read on and come back to the BB for clarification and questions.

Become aware of the suspension upgrade issues. You may wish to defer such until you detect shortcommings or determine that the shocks are going. Shocks are good for 60000 to 120000 miles, depending on driving profiles, style and road conditions.

And power and handling are all limited by your choice of tires. Don't go to lesser tires!
