Transmission noise solved - with a surprise...

Well, some of you may remember that I had a scraping sound in the transmisison area when decellerating in 4th ,3rd or 2nd gear. I took it into B&G on Renforth in Toronto west end and left it with them to have the transmission repaired. Please note that Downtown SSI had suggested "worn bearings, $1800 Cdn to start".
Paul from B&G called mid week and said it was the clutch. Huh? He insisted that he wouldn't disassemble the transmission but would just do the clutch. If he was wrong we'd deal on the labour to re and re the transmission again. Well, I wasn't big on it but I said ok, I trust you.
Well, I picked it up today and it is silent. Nice to have a new clutch too (it was slipping real bad). The clutch action is very different now but nice and crisp.
He also replaced the flex pipe in the exhaust so the bill crept up above what I'd budgeted for but basically the clutch (3 pieces) was $500 and labour was $300. He appreciated that I'd left it for the whole week so they could schedule work better.
Overall, a pleasant experience and now I can sell it with a clear conscience (and I inherit the Volvo 855T from my wife - mmmmm...). Any buyers? See my post in classifieds.
