well...i might get wipped with a wet noodle...but here it goes...

i took the box out, took some dimensions and wanted to see if i could get a cone down in that hole that goes to the fog light, or at least put the cone in that general area....im talking that area where the end of the snorkle is...

i looked around for some mandrel bent 2 3/4" piping..hopefully all i need is just a piece with 1 90degree bend in it..after seeing some outragous pricing ($60)..if found "Auto Jet" online...
mandrel bent aluminized steel... the piece i needed was $13.59
not bad

now the filter..i needed a little bit smaller filter than i would have liked to be able to get down in that tight spot...
i took some dimensions (RU 3120) seemed like it might work
long story on how i got this (ughghggh..PITA)..but i found out afterwards that Autozone will order it for $35, and i got it next day.
and i can return it if it doesnt fit...so worst case is im out $14 for the tubing..

i cut the tubing to fit and put the filter on...
i bought a 1/4" wide steel hanger that i cut and bent to make a braket to hold it in place...

the filter now sits about 1/2 in that hole and the other half is above it behind/below the front headlight..you can barely see it looking down..
it ends up touching the sides of that hole..but there is plenty of opening above and below that, so im not too worried about restricing air in that little spot.

results???
i would say an extra 20-25 horsepower!! im kidding of course..
noticable?? yeah, a little.. i just put my sport exhaust on 2 days ago..was that noticable? yeah, a little..
i guess it takes alot for me to say "big improvements"
maybe a little quicker, throttle response is a little better
its not a totally different car...but it was probably worth it..
even with the exhuast, we are only talking a "claimed" 10-13hp increase
i really think that is HONESTLY not a big change.

the biggest difference is the noise..without the turbo silencer..this thing is pretty loud. sounds cool..but i definately would lay low on the gas if i had a girl or my mom in the car :) ("whats wrong with your engine???")

actually with the exhaust, cone, and silencer removed, this car sounds COMPLETELY different than it did 3 days ago!!

ill try to post some pix when i get into work tomorrow...
enjoy.
