One of 2 scenarios-- you might have an alternator that is grossly overcharging the battery. This is bad.
Or... perhaps your battery water level was very low, and when you refilled it, you filled to the brim? You should fill only to the bottom of the neck, when you peer into the battery cell-- maybe 3/4 of an inch below the top. It's normal for a discharged battery to bubble--- emit hydrogen -- (thus don't smoke or create sparks around a charging battery). If you've overfilled, it will bubble, expand, and run over. I would leave it alone for a while, and see what happens--- monitor the level every so often.
You might want to mix a solution of baking soda and water and pour it CAREFULLY around the areas that the acid has contacted. This will help to neutralize the corrosive effects. Afterwards, hose things off--- judiciously--- with a small stream of water, being careful not to wet ANY relay or fuse boxes, or other things that look important. Might also want to remove, wire brush or sand the battery clamps and posts, smear with silicon anti-corrosion paste (or vaseline in a pinch) and retighten. Make sure you have your radio code handy, because it won't turn on afterward. You'll have to program your stations again too.
