Having Just replaced my timing belt the hard way, belt failure at 98000 miles. I complained to Saab Ireland. it was previously replaced at 78,000 miles by a Saab main dealer and the car was main dealer serviced from new by the SAAB network in Ireland.
The resultant top end rebuild as a result of the broken belt was carried outin the UK by Neo brothers LTD. at a cost of £1500 stg. The very good news is the engine has lasted two weeks and has suffered an oil pressure loss which looks to have run the camshaft and big end bearings .
None of the Saab Garages in Ireland seemed aware that costs of replacement of first three timing belts were covered by SAAB. Any information greatfully recieved.
Expected costs for the engine rebuild could be an additional £5000 and no one wants to get involved. Our Local SAAB garage refused to take on the job despite the fact that they had previously serviced the car for me.
Anyone got a second hand engine out there. or want a second hand car- engine.
