Re: Fix for a '96 900 CD Changer? Posted by Don [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Fix for a '96 900 CD Changer?, Erica, Mon, 15 Oct 2001 14:22:08 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There are quite a few messages in the archives dealing with the CD changer problems. There was apparently a defective chip in the head unit which, if replaced, will solve the problem.
Try some of the suggestions that you will see in the archives, including the following. When taking the DIN plug out of the CD changer, be sure to pull the little spring-loaded collar back before trying to remove the plug.
- try removing the plug and re-inserting it - then turn on the radio
- try taking the radio fuse out (make sure you have the radio code!) and then replacing it after reconnecting the changer
- try disconnecting the battery for a teim (some say an hour) and then reconnecting the CD changer and then the battery
You get the idea. Try all of the different permutations until something works, which is likely. You are out of warranty, so the repair to the head unit will cost you (but it never hurts to gripe!).
