The dawes is inexpensive, compact and easy to install. It is also easier to adjust than than the ones with variable orifices and springs. There is no known reason to spend $100 or $130 on some of the alteratives.
I have a TurboXS two way adjustable unit and I cannot say that it fixes the problems that I have with overshoot in cold weather. I had a Hallman unit before that is now in my junk box. It worked well. I have not used a dawes unit but I have not heard anything to indicate that it lacks in ant way.
