hit pot and hold blew tire... I would suspect a bent wheel, not a bad axle. But perhaps you do have a bad axle. I would still check out the wheel.
You have an older vehicle with low miles, but perhaps a lot of wear from city driving and roght roads?
I don't think that anyone has reported anything on that brand of shocks.
I know it is a pain, but try switching the front pot holed tire to the rear. See if the problems follow wheel.
