How long for the first drain depends on the car. I assume you didn't use an engine flush. Then, the synthetic oil will clean, just more slowly.
If the engine had been well maintained, you can probably go at least 4-5,000 miles on the first batch. Watch for any sign of increase in oil consumption. If you get that after a couple of thousand miles, change the filter and top off.
When I bought my 88 9Kturbo, about 87,000 miles on it, the shop put AMSOIL 10W-30 in it without a flush. I ran it for a year(about 10,000 miles), changing the filter at 6 months.
Proper drain interval depends at least partly on the brand of synthetic oil used, but any of them should be capable of going at least as long as the manufacturer's recommended drain.
I do my turbos with AMSOIL, changing yearly (or about 10K, whichever comes first). I'm probably throwing away good oil.
