Your made up hose might be ok if you could bond it. The added tube to extend the drivers side hose might also have a popping problem if it does not have a raised bead for the clamps to work with.
Sorry to hear about the disappointment after all of the hard work. The work would be awkward for sure and the aches and pains will be with you tomorrow morning.
When you clamp a hose and a beaded pipe cannot be had, you can put two strips of metal under the pair of clamps at 180 degrees then make the clamps very tight and then bend the strips up around the clamps and hold down the loose ends with wire ties. The clamps will not slip on the hose if they have compressed into it a bit and the strips of metal will stop the clamps from moving apart. Then things will stay in place. The rubber to pipe interfaces should be clean and not lubricated. New hose might need to be degreased to remove wax and release agents. I have a similar challenging clamped joint that has some goop adhesive to increase the grip of the rubber on aluminum. Some high performance applications where metal pipes are rubber sleeved and clamped employ metal bridging parts to go over the clamps and sleeves so that the rubber sleeve joint does not take up any tension from the pressure loads. This provides a metal to metal path for the forces. As seen in 'Maximum Boost'. But that does not help when joining rubber to rubber with a metal pipe insert. You really need a beaded end on the metal piep insert to resist the blow off forces.
What about the post where the old turbo disharge hose was extended with a cut lenght of the old discharge side aluminum hard pipe? Did you do that or get some 2.25" truck rad hoses and chop and fit them?
