There are several wire clips which attach thru the seat pad to hold the cloth and wire frame it is sewn to, to the frame of the seat. They are a PITA to get at and get back in place, but it is doable. Remove the seat from the car and set it on a bench if you have not already. This is a nearly impossible job to do with the seat in the car, and if you can then you are far more flexible that I am!
Locate and remove all of these and the cloth will come free with the cushion remaining in place. The element is glued to the pad. The wire usually breaks in the seat bottom, at the position of your left buttock. You pivot here when you get in and out of the vehicle and the wire gets brittle with age and use.
You can replace the element, or just solder the wire where it has broken. Once the wires get brittle, this project becomes annual...prior to every winter.
Nick.
