This is most likely the subframe that the engine is mounted on sliding back and forth. Saab recommends torquing it every 60K miles. It comes slightly "loose" over time and shifts back and forth with the force of the engine and braking. This happened on both my 9000's which use an identical design for the subframe mounting.
Put the car up on ramps. Look underneath....there is a very obvious squarish frame which the engine and transmission mount to...it covers the entire undersurface of the front of the car. There are 2 bolts at each corner which secure the subframe to the unibody of the car.
Torque these and all similar bolts nearby to 45 ft. lbs. If you do not have a torque wrench....just make it "pretty tight", but I suggest using a torque wrench b/c I have seen these bolts stripped.
Hope this helps,
Nick.
