I doubt that your battery is sealed (I don't think any SAAB batteries of that era would have been). If not this means that they can check out the battery and test for a bad cell. Although checking out OK is no guarantee the battery will be trouble free for you it could help identify a clearly bad battery.
If a no start condition isn't a huge concern you can always just chance it. With luck the car will tell you what it needs if you listen to what it says. On the otherhand if it would be a big hassel the small cost of a new battery might well be worth it especially if you are in a cold weather climate. If it is orginal odds are that you will be replacing it in the next year or so anyway.
