Could be that it is missing when it fires in this RPM/load range.
If you have driven more than 25-30K since last major service, you are in line for new plugs (maybe it is missing when it does this?), fuel and air filters, cap and rotor (if its an "S", SE's have DI - maybe it's missing again?) and some Fuel injector cleaner would be good. Also if there is a difference in resistance between the plug wires, this can cause erratic spark delivery at certain RPM's. Take all the plug wires out and measure the resistance end to end with an Ohm meter, they should all be pretty close. If not that then look at the function of the coil
The FI cleaner you need to get is called BG 44K. It makes Techron look like a joke. It is generally only sold to shops and is not sold in stores, but can be ordered by anyone from a BG distributor. Check the BG website at http://www.bgprod.com and look up a distributor in your area. Give them a call and they can send you a can. It costs about $19 for a can, but works incredibly well. They recommend changing the oil after its use.
Start with the simple....plugs, cap, rotor, etc (sounds like you are due for these anyway). If that doesn't do it look at plug wires
, then the coil. Only use NGK plugs from Saab (or AM source), not BrandX from Autozone. I have had bad luck with Bosch Platinums, but some people seem to like them, I dont think they are worth the money.
Hope this helps.
Nick.
