If only the driver side has stopped working, then the nut which secures it to the stud probably just came loose. This is not uncommon on any car.
Both wipers are driven by one motor, so if your passenger side still works, this is most likely just a loose securing nut. Pop the cap off (Be Careful...they like to sail off when they pop loose! keep one finger on top of it!) And tighten the nut to 16 ft lbs with a torque wrench. If you do not have a torque wrench, make it a little tight, but not too much as the stud can strip easily. Some Loctite 271 (red) on the threads may not be a bad idea to prevent this in the future. Also check all the others, passenger and rear.
