HAv the dealer or an independent Saaab mechanic change the oil. Only go to a 'minute lube' place as a last resort.
I use Mobil 1 oil because as with any synthetic motor oil, it offers increased temperature stability, great wear protection, and eliminates sludge build-up. Best of all, Mobil 1 is easy to find at a reasonable price. I use Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30 in my 1998 Saab 900SET. While synthtic oil is easily good for 10,000 miles, I run my vehicles 5,000 miles between oil and filter changes as I do a lot of city driving which leads to a lot of oil dilution by fuel and condensation.
I use Mobil 1 or AC/Delco Ultaguard Gold oil filters. Both filters offer synthetic filter media, small particulate filtration, and robust construction. The AC/Delco literature claims the Ultraguard Gold filter has a better single pass particle filtration rate and is less restrictive to oil flow than the Mobil 1 filter. The dealer or an independent Saab mechanic will probably use the Saab filter or MAnn filters, both of which are good.
