Saab Start up Problem after Oil Change (Long) Posted by Nicholas [Email] ![]() ![]() |

I changed my E-oil, Tranny-oil and filter on Sat and all went well. I finshed the job, fired up the engine (it started immediatley) and went on a good 10 min drive. When I returned home, I found that I was unable to start my car. It had battery power, and it was turning over but no ignition. I figured that maybe I had put too much Oil in (sorry guys I know it was a silly mistake) so I got under there and drained out a good amount. I used the same oil as the last change... Mobil 1 10W-30. I then attempted to start up the engine and it started ... but only after great hesitation (about 4 secs of hesitation, not much, but 3.5 seconds of hesitation more than usual). This process of a poor start made it so that the CD Changer (CDC635) was no longer recognized. After the 1st poor start after draining the oil I retried... same result (and the next 5 ignitions after that, because I had to go to work). I decided then to let out a bit more oil. After, it started once again but with a fair amount of hesitation once again.
What is the problem here? Did I flood a nessecary component to ignition with motor oil(ie are fuel injectors coated in Oil or something?), is there still too much pressure on the engine with too much oil in it (The dipstick level looks a little low {but still in tolerance}, but I can't read the d@mn Saab dipstick very well at all!)?
What should I do to fix the problem? Should I bring it and have the oil changed at a shop and start afresh (35$ is a small price to pay for piece of mind). Should I buy some fuel injector cleaner? Should I drain out some more?
Sorry for the novella!
As always... Thanks in advance,
Nicholas Wood
