talked with a local saab mechanic last week.
i guess i made a pretty simple but extremely stupid
mistake. while running synthetic oil, i put a bottle
of "ring seal" in to hopefully restore some lost
compression. he said that by mixing these two, it can
cause a reaction that forms a bubble-gum type substance
which explains the low oil pressure if the oil pump
is getting clogged, and also explains the valve clicking
and the engine seizing at low rpms and shutting off.
the car runs right now, but its not being driven.
im having it towed this coming friday, after i get my AAA
upgraded for 100 tow miles. i noticed at the dealer that they
have this device which hooks into your oil drain plug, and into
oil filter connection, and it blasts this solvent through your
engine to remove sludge and buildup. i wonder if something like
would work. how else can this crap be removed?
