There are no slides on the rear. Sounds like you had a stuck piston.
The outer boot, or dist boot.... the wire stainless steel retaining rings which go over the seal are wound into a helix, then sheared to produce the ring. The shearing leaves a sharp burr. The shearing also seem to alter the curve of the ring. So it will not apply uniform pressure bear the ends. The design for these will not specify a burr, so they are defective. You will not see this unless you remove the ring to look at it. You would have to remove the caliper to do this.
The seal on my first LH unit was pulled down too fare and this was causing the seal to pull away from the piston on onw side and a bulge of seal material projected beyond the normal location past tne retaining ring.
