My experience has been consistent with the other posters - nice car and good (smooth & strong) engine but a lot of trouble and expense to maintain. Also, the suspension/wheels are a bit delicate - one good New York city pot hole can set you back many, many $100. I have maintained mine to specs since new, drive at moderate speeds, and generally don't exceed a grand-motherly level of g's. At 6' 2" it is one of the few cars on the road today that are a good fit for me. Some comments:

1. There are rumors that the most recent timing belt/tensioner kit provides much more than 30k miles, but don't know for sure.

2. Cruise control - mine started working intermittantly; it either worked normally or not at all. Then I discovered that I could consistently make it work by the sticking my foot UNDER the clutch pedal and pulling up slightly. Thereafter it works correctly till the next downshift - not much of a problem since I only use it on highways. So presumably there is a disengagement micro-switch activated by the clutch pedal that needs adjusting or replacement. I could imagine a similar problem on the brake.

3. My tcs light also illuminates for no apparent reason. Unfortunately it is accommpanied by erratic engine operation & thus is a safety issue. A few hundred dollars diagnostic time has not yielded a solution. It is only a problem in hot weather, so come spring I think it's good bye to my '94 v6 at 130,000+ miles (& hello to subaru, volvo, chevy, another saab?). I am rather disgusted that you can't just pull the plug on the tcs to disable it. Even when tcs is not active, it has to be operating normally for the engine to function normally, at least that is my understanding. Of course, the problem on your prospect Saab could be much simpler.

General rule of thumb for saabs, especially 900 v6's: no matter what condition it is in there is always the prospect of unexpected, high dollar repairs.

Good luck
Kevin
