Car dies = Serpentine belt failure

So I'm heading to the ski hill Saturday morning for my first day as a coach when the car dies with a "check fan belt" message. Sure enough, when I pull over, the belt has fallen off most of the pulleys. 30 minutes later a tow truck towed me back to the city. The parts didn't come in until closing on Saturday (idler pulley, serpentine belt), so they're only starting to look at it now. I hope it'll be done for after work. Just thought I'd share my carless Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I miss it. And I hope I still have a job next weekend.
The car has 228,000 Km, and I have no idea if the belt has ever been replaced before, so it was probably time for it to go. I just wish it had gone on a Monday morning on my way to work instead of a Saturday morning on the way to the ski hill.
