Yes - Saab did have a campaign on the 5th motor - I went through my sons service records from the previous owner - and they had it done at 30K - talk with the dealer regarding this - in SOME cases, the dealer might do a "Good Faith" replace on this seeing as you have low mileage and you are a "New" Saab costumer - did you buy the car at the dealer were you are having it serviced??? If so - talk with the salesperson that sold you the car - jokingly give him grief about this and who knows - he might talk with his boss as potentially he/she is looking at a repeat customer. This has worked before for me in my previous Saabs - it's worth a try - all they can say is no - and the best they could do is pay for it - now maybe they might be willing to split the cost 50/50

I can't tell you on the Shop Costs - a lot has to do with the area that you live in - but the cost that you are quoting for labor sounds about right.

I have a 01 9-5 and my son has a 95 NG900 convert. My previous SAABS were a 1988 9000 with 200K and 87 900T with 150K
