Considering 97 900S Conv.

Hello to all the folks on one of my old haunts. I was active on the list a couple of years ago while I owned a 95 900s 5 door. I sold that car to a co-worker. When he has the ol'Saab all polished up, I sure miss it.
Tonight, I looked at a 97 900s convertible... 58,000 KM, dk blue w/ tan leather, automatic, no CD player. Dealer had a weekend special price of CDN $19,995 (around $13K US) Looks mint, although I preferred the Antera 123 wheels on my old Saab to the angular 3-spoke stockers on this '97.
The place was closed and dark so not much detail. The info sheet said it was a 2.2L engine. I presume a non-SE would be normally aspirated. I remember my '95 having a 2.3 non-turbo. Is the '97 different or is the sheet incorrect?
I know the non-turbo with automatic will be gutless, but the convertible would be used mostly by my wife and it is soooo purty! Are Saab auto transmissions of this vintage reliable?
One of the reasons I sold my '95 900s was frustration with the so-called tramlining / torque steer steering problems. I finally beat it back to where it was acceptable by slotting strut towers to adjust camber and installing Abbott Racing a-arm bushings. Other than that I loved the car. I test drove 2 other 900's since then and found they were better behaved than mine. I remember reading that '97 models had some suspension improvments over the '95s... better ride mostly.
Anyhow, my wife is VERY anxious to get her mitts on and butt in this car. Should we consider it? The price seeems very good for a convertible.
Cheers to all you Saabers.
