The new Mercedes-Benz SL 500 has a brake-by-wire system that automatically pulses the brakes in wet weather to keep the rotors dry so you don't lose braking ability. I've had the same thing happen. Even after washing my car, the brakes don't work very well at the end of the block, but like you said, pulsing them a few times gets them working again.
