I'm Air Force and boguth my 95 in Germany. I had the government ship it back and the experience was very plesant. Remove every thing that isn't attached and either ship it seperate or put it in a sealed box int the trunk. Make sure you keep an inventory of what's in the box just in case. There's no need to remove the radio, only another SAAB owner can use it and if it gets stolen Uncle Sam will buy you a new one. SAABs are great to have in Europe where you can drivethem the way they ae intended. If you are going to southern Italy the crime rate is higher than in the north and they like to steal mil plated vehicles, so make sure you insure it well and watch where you leave it. A wonderful trip to take would be up the west coast or center of the country to switzerland in late spring/early fall then over to Germany, down into Ausria and back to Italy. This just the kind of drive the car is designed for. There are special requirements for Switzerland and Austria though. You have to have a passport, your ID and orders won't work and you have to pay road tax in one or both countries for the duration of your stay. I have spent 10 years in Europe and have found that each country has something special to offer the traveler. Enjoy your assignment and make the most of the opportunity.
