I bet that the dealer never updated the tensionerpulley at 35 or 65K service and now it came back and bit them in the buttocks.
I know for sure that at the 35K service they tend to leave the old tensioners in because otherwise the dealer would have to pick up the tab for the cost of it, I have had several V6 at 65K service where the old tensioner was still there and the 35K had been done at the dealer.
If they can make the tensioner last until 65K they can move the cost over to customer claiming it's beyond warranty.
With the new updatekit the service interval is 60K. As it have been the whole time for 97 and up NG900,9000 and 9-5 V6
