Seems like everything can be fixed by the owner if the owner is really up for it. Here's my $0.02.
For the antenna, use a wrench to remove the external nut and you will be able to pull the antenna out. The mast has a toothed flexible plastic line inside it. Look at the end of your line and see if the teeth there are especially gnarled up, which could be the reason it is not catching on the gear driver on the motor on the inside. If this is the case, you can replace the mast with a new one following the instructions in the posts on this site (search on "antenna").
For the defroster, it's hard to say without seeing it. If you have wenough good metal on both endds tape a piece of aluminum foil across it temporarily to see if the contact there is really the problem. If it is you could solder a new bridge there. If it just looks bad but is not the problem, then take it in to have someone diagnose it.
