Debadging Posted by SLAAB [Email] ![]() ![]() |
Sharing with the board my debadging project this weekend. After 5 years of washing and waxing I noticed that the badges on the back of my 97 NG900 were 'antiquing' quite nicely. Time to get rid of them and at the same time, simplify my washing and waxing job (no more need to break out the toothbrush to get between the letters).
Weather: Sunny, 90 degrees (hey, I live in Florida)
Tools:
Dental Floss
Hair Dryer
WD40
Rag
Rubbing Compound
With the car in the sun, heat the badge with the hairdryer on hot and about an inch from the badge. This should soften the glue holding the badge on. With a sawing action, run the dental floss underneath the badge until it falls off. There should be a little goo still on the car from the badge. You can pick off the remaining two sided tape with your fingernail. The residue can be removed with a rag wetted with WD-40. Clean up with some rubbing compound and you are done. I finished off with a wash and wax and the paint fading around the badges were not noticeable.
