Well, as for lifter noise, the 'frees sticking rings and valves' snake oil additives willl probably fix any of that. Noise at startup is from the hydraulic lifters waiting for the oil flow to pump them up. I have never had this on my 95SET so I don't know what to say. Are you using a strange filter what does not have a anti drain back feature?

Try the two chemical treatments and 10W30 Mobil One. Delvac is an experiment and is convvient for me. It is hard to get and expensive. If the Mobil One works stay with that. It will help free up rings etc. Don't extend the first drain period. If the noise persists you could try a heavier weight of Mobil One to see if that makes any difference. I will see whats on the shelves, I have not paid much attention to the other weights.

I will use the Delvac because I have to get 4 gallons shipped at a time, so I will use what is at hand.

Making a change from dyno to an expensive hard to get oil is not your first choise. I am not encouraging others to go with Delvac. My point was that I tried it and the higher W40 seems to make my engine smoother and quieter without loss of fuel efficiency. My engine was not making any ticking or chain buzzing before. So perhps others should consider a W40 if they have any troublsome noises. But 10W30 Mobil One should be used when switching from dyno.

All references to Devac are to Devlac One. There are other grades of Delvac which are not synthetic.
