1. Having bought a '98 SE in the past two months, I can say that with 60K miles, the price is way high. In the Atlanta market, convertibles are going for that range with that mileage, and coupes and sedan are probably $4000 less. Keep shopping! However, I think you will be very happy with a '98 SE if you find one at the right price.

2. There are a lot of posts on buying tips and problem areas of NG 900s. Because your car is out of warranty, I would recommend taking it to a Saab indie or Saab dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. They will probably charge you roughly 1-hour of labor, but they know the potential problem areas to look at. If you opt for the Saab dealer, they can pull the service history of the car, including applicable recalls, etc. Because 1998 was the last year of the NG900, many of the kinks of the earlier models had been worked out.
