If you gut the cat you may have a vehicle which cannot be sold in many justrictions. No emmisions testing where you are?
The 02 sensors usually last much longer than yours. Sometimes the sensor is OK but the sensor to downpipe junction has developed resistance. This poor ground can cause problems. If this is the case, the sensor can be backed out just enough to clean the contact face and be reseated. This has been done successfully a few times, but a dealer would have to have your interests in mind to do this or check for this.
The use of the down pipe, turbo and manifold (with gaskets) for a signal ground is rather silly, but that is the way that it is. Some have cleaned these sensors with a torch.
Check your plugs. If some are fouled or oily then that could be a cause of O2 sensor trouble.
