The early NG900's (yours) have the original suspension design that has less vertical travel than the following models.
When you lower the springs, the amount of vertical travel is then reduced by that amount. Now if you have older shocks, these may not be able to dampen motion enough to keep you from hitting the bump stops.... which is not very pleasant.
Also, with the shorter travel and stiffer spring rates which are typical with lowered springs, you really should have a 'stronger' shock, not one that is getting tired.
If you have the original shocks, they might be getting near the point where they are not good enough to keep you off the bump stops with the SE springs.
So as long as you have invested in the labor to change the springs, I suggest that you replace the shocks at the same time. You might be removing the struts again soon to do the shocks, which then doubles your labor expenses.
I have the SE springs and koni's. With the VRK, a good chunk of ground clearance is lost with the subframe brace. The VRK plus lowering springs would simply be asking for trouble.
It is also a good time to inspect and replace the upper mounts, as this operation requires the same labor as replacing the springs. Get KYB mounts c/w thrust bearings for around $112 for a pair at tirerack.com.
If you are looking for springs to reduce body roll, consider the SAS rear sway bar which is very affordable and an easy DIY install.
