Anyone used a Palm/Visor OBD2 Cable/Software?

Most of the mfgs I talk to say, "Just 'standard' obd2 compliant codes, not mfg specific codes or analysis...for example, oxygen sensor readouts can be done by any obd2 compliant ECU".
So at $350, these are WAY cheaper than a tech2 application specific hand scanner (provided you already own a palm or visor).
It's almost cheap enough that everyone could have one...almost anyway. I just wonder how much can you do with them? Can you program or calibrate things such as Wheel size changes (odometer/speedo calibration) or temp calibration. How much feedback can you get and on what systems of the engine while it's running etc etc...how useful is this type of thing?
Anybody even tried it? Or is it SAAB Tech2 or nothing at all?
